Winter Storm 2011

Well, I think we're going to make it.
The threat of 5 inches of snow is now past - and we've not missed a single moment of electricity or heat. The biggest dilemma at our house is that the Xbox won't play right now.  Kid #1 continues to ask "What are we gonna do today?" and we finally answered with "Nothing!"
I do need to introduce you to the newest members of the family. . .

The two tetras have been around for several years and just got upgraded to a bigger tank. They have now been joined by 2 beautiful guppies and a molly.  None of them have been named yet, but I'm putting in my vote today: the black one should be 'Vader' (as in Darth), and I think the guppies should be Phineas and Ferb.  The tetras would have to be 'Peat' and 'Repeat' since you can't tell the difference between them.  What do you think?  (Which is funny that I ask, because a. you probably won't respond and b. they're not my fish to name)
I've heard lots of "Mommy" today and as pleasant as that should be, I'm ready for nap time, a Dr. Pepper and a movie (The Princess Bride is at the top of my list.)
Just in case you were wondering, here's what a two year old does on a non-snow snow day. . .
You can thank my friend Susan for the pictures, since she insisted that I must blog and include lots of pictures.  Happy Snow Day!

  1. Are the guppies male and female, or both male? That would affect the naming, you know. I do like Vader for the black one.
Sorry you didn't get the snow today...I think it got dropped off here by mistake. We had 4-5 inches. This was our 4th snow day of the week. I've missed 3 days of work, we had 2 field trips that went bust, and Tye's ensemble contest for band was rescheduled from tomorrow to sometime in the future. Haven't heard about my hula lessons yet...
Love your pictures, what kind of camera are you using?

Closing out the year 2024

New Year's Eve. . . the end of a year that makes you reflect back on the last 365 days. Most of us are looking forward to the new year and some of us are looking back and wondering where it went! What happened to 2024?! What do we even have to show for it but some bumps and bruises? It's been a wild ride, ya'll!  But reflection is a good thing, right? Taking time to skim over the year and look for highlights and lowlights and facing the disappointments and celebrating the achievements - these are important things to do. So what were some of my wins and losses? What a great year! Celebrated 1 year of working for the church Traveled internationally with hubby several times Started year 2 of our ministry school Got a dog (a BIG dog) Graduated a kid from Bible School Started a kid at a private school (step of faith) What a tough year! Experienced a flood of sorts at the church (broken pipe) Got banned from entering a country Got a dog (a BIG dog) Moved adult kid back home (pare...

What in the world is going on?!

Ok, so I haven't written a blog post in forever.  And there have been a few things going on in my world, so I thought it was high time to catch you up. Where do I start? Highlights: - Church building is up for sale (lots of interested parties), any day now - Looking for acreage for church but most affordable in size we need are FAR away from Spring - Let's move the church 30 miles away! Willis, TX here we come! - Laid off from job of 15 years, to throw a kink in the mix - Let's move our family first so we can 'make it home'! - But first, Christmas holidays and all the fun! - Look for rentals, find a rental house, get approved and register kids for new schools in less than a week. - Move family into beautiful, weird rental house near the lake and start taxi mom life. - Work on painting and fixing up house to put on the market, done (multiple showings every day), also any day now - Kid #1 makes baseball team, kid #2 is playing golf and has already played in...

Let's see how this goes?

I can't even describe all the many things that have happened since the last time I blogged.  Let's just say, there is never a dull moment around here! You know the saying about Texas weather? If you don't like it just wait a few minutes and it will change.  That's a pretty accurate description of what life has been like in the world of Davidson.  Across the board, our lives look completely different than they did just one year ago.  If you know me, I'd be happy to sit down and explain the details of how God has shown up time and time again to move things and work things out on our behalf.     Alive Church is thriving in New Waverly, in a God-given building that we could never have built on our own.  A true testament to the vision and heart of our founder, Bishop Jimmy Davidson.  We lost him in April of this year and that has changed the dynamics of both the ministry and our home.  Sis Jackie moved in with us and we are all in a...
