So, what have we been up to over the last few weeks? Where do I begin?!
After the AMAZING Women of Excellence Conference (really, the best one yet), we had a quiet week (except for the whole run-out-of-gas fiasco) to get back in gear and get ready for baseball. My parents came and left and then came again (God bless them!) and kept the kids for us to go to The Remnant Pastor's conference in Baton Rouge with our church staff. I still have a lot of processing to go through all my notes from that conference. The teaching was powerful! The Hubs got to shake Reinhard Bonnke's hand and got him to autograph his book.We got to spend some quality time with our staff too!
Oh, I've had a birthday since the last time I posted. It was exactly the kind of birthday I like to have - a day full of well wishes and people just making me feel special! It started a day early with not one, but two homemade pies waiting for us when we got home from Louisiana (Thanks, Mom!) I had to get back to work the next day - and was treated to an ice cream cake from my co-workers and lunch with a friend (Susan, I miss you being around). My three guys had a gift bag with their take on my favorite candy - Kid #2 picked out Kit-Kat (and has been eating them for me), Kid #1 picked out Gummy Lifesavers (YUMM-O) and The Hubs got me a bag of peanut butter M&M's (my first taste of those heavenly babies was on the trip home from LA). Then, we finished off the night with a scrimmage for baseball and a trip to Wal-mart with the kids. Who could ask for a better day?
We had opening day for baseball season on Saturday. The day started with a gathering of HUNDREDS of baseball uniform clad boys gathering for a parade around 9:30 a.m., a parade of each team (there are a lot) from 10:00 to 10:40, working a carnival booth from 11:00 to 12:00, Kid #1 team pictures at 12:45, Kid #1 game prep at 1:30 and game at 2:00, Kid #2 team pictures at 3:45 and we headed home around 4:20. The temperature for the day started in the 60's and went downhill as we drove to the baseball fields. Thankfully, we grabbed coats as we headed out (just in case) and had a Nana nearby to come get Kid #3 (the delicate flower) out of the weather. Nana also saved the day by inviting us to come over for pot roast and homemade mashed potatoes - and we drug ourselves in, feasted and drug ourselves home around 5:20. I'd like to say that was the end (and I'm sure you would too!), but we had to be back at the fields for Kid #2's game prep at 7:30 and game at 8:00 pm. We dropped off Kid #1 and Kid #3 at Nana's, headed to the game and had everyone back home and bathed by 10:30 pm. And there's only one Opening Day a year - thank you, Lord! To round off this grand tale, we went out this morning and found The Hubs' truck on blocks - as in no tires or rims.
In all of this, and today's declaration was "Life happens. God WILL be glorified in the good and the bad!" He's been faithful in every way and at every turn. The adventure continues. . .
