Time is ticking away

Where did the night go?  I was working on some things and looked up and it was 9:30 and my children hadn't even had their showers yet! So, my list of things to get done tonight is NOWHERE near done. . .
My parents are coming to visit and my house is not in spic and span condition. I have tried, in vain, to get some badges printed and ready for the conference this weekend. And, I don't have all my notes typed out and in a presentation-ready state.  But, God is faithful and it will all get done!  The Hubs helped me finish up the 4 loads of laundry that were done (I love my new washer/dryer set - is that weird?) and spread across the bed. And he spent some time looking over my notes and helped me organize my thoughts better.  I am thankful for my helpmate!
Speaking of my Valentine, I have to brag on him for a minute.  We planned our date night for Friday night, and I must say he planned very well.  I won't give all the details, but it included dinner, a movie, 3 strategically hidden boxes of James Avery jewelry, and tulips (my favorite).  It's nice to be spoiled sometimes!
I helped him out a little by circling things in the James Avery catalog that I liked. I did it one evening after it had come in the mail in January.  A few days later, he asked what I wanted for Valentines and I said "Flowers, I guess." Then, I saw the catalog laying nearby, grabbed it and said "Or, I just happen to have a few things circled here that I like."  How convenient! What's funny is, after I got it in the mail, I left it laying out in the living room so that I could look at it when I had more time (and a pen handy), and he thought I left it out for him!  Sorry ladies, I'm just not that kind of schemer.
It's late and I need to get one last load of laundry in the dryer so Kid #2 has some baseball pants for tomorrow's practice. . .

Closing out the year 2024

New Year's Eve. . . the end of a year that makes you reflect back on the last 365 days. Most of us are looking forward to the new year and some of us are looking back and wondering where it went! What happened to 2024?! What do we even have to show for it but some bumps and bruises? It's been a wild ride, ya'll!  But reflection is a good thing, right? Taking time to skim over the year and look for highlights and lowlights and facing the disappointments and celebrating the achievements - these are important things to do. So what were some of my wins and losses? What a great year! Celebrated 1 year of working for the church Traveled internationally with hubby several times Started year 2 of our ministry school Got a dog (a BIG dog) Graduated a kid from Bible School Started a kid at a private school (step of faith) What a tough year! Experienced a flood of sorts at the church (broken pipe) Got banned from entering a country Got a dog (a BIG dog) Moved adult kid back home (pare...

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. . .

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I wrote a blog. Posts were few and far between at best. I was working 40+ hours a week at a job. There were 3 children at home with various activities and none were driving so taxiing was my side hustle (unpaid, grueling hours). The Hubs was working 50-60 hours a week pioneering a church and starting a side business. So much has changed since the last post, that I contemplated scrapping it all and starting fresh.  Or should I?   Always a challenge to get all my words out, I hesitate to even write this one. But I will provide a catch-up for history's sake... Kid #1 is graduated and trying to be a grown-up on his own in a different city.  College courses, which are mostly online because of the big 'C', working almost full time and a girlfriend keep him pretty busy, but not too busy to call his mama every few days.  Especially when the bank account is low.  Kid #2 is finishing up his last year of high school and living hi...

Let's see how this goes?

I can't even describe all the many things that have happened since the last time I blogged.  Let's just say, there is never a dull moment around here! You know the saying about Texas weather? If you don't like it just wait a few minutes and it will change.  That's a pretty accurate description of what life has been like in the world of Davidson.  Across the board, our lives look completely different than they did just one year ago.  If you know me, I'd be happy to sit down and explain the details of how God has shown up time and time again to move things and work things out on our behalf.     Alive Church is thriving in New Waverly, in a God-given building that we could never have built on our own.  A true testament to the vision and heart of our founder, Bishop Jimmy Davidson.  We lost him in April of this year and that has changed the dynamics of both the ministry and our home.  Sis Jackie moved in with us and we are all in a...
